This presentation will cover the mechanism of melanin formation and melanocyte function as well as associated states of hyper-hypo pigmentation. The role of the enzymes tyrosinase and phenylalanine oxidase in melanin formation will be described. Methods to reduce melanin by exfoliation and inhibition of melanin formation through enzyme blockage will be presented. Specific treatments for melasma, inflammatory, hyperpigmentation and lentigenes will be presented. All attendees will receive a handout and a certificate.
